About our School
Carter's Charity Primary School is a single form entry school which serves the area around Preesall and Knott End in the Over Wyre district of Lancashire. The maximum number of children we are allowed to admit in each year group is 30.
Our school is surrounded by fields and farmland, and we back on to the seawall with Morecambe Bay beyond. The first Carter's Charity School was opened over 300 years ago with parts of the present building dating from 1870.
We are as equally proud of the rich heritage of our school's past as we are the successful future ahead of us.
Being a voluntary controlled school, the local authority is the employer of all staff within the school. The School Governors are committed to the Equal Opportunities Policy adopted by the local authority, Lancashire County Council. We believe that our curriculum reflects an awareness of gender, cultural, disabled and racial issues in a subtle manner. It is not our intention to over emphasise these issues and create problems where problems did not exist. It is our intention, however, to respond to questions and topics related to these issues and promote an understanding by the children that the world is inhabited by an immense variety of people with different values, cultures and physical features.
