UPDATE Strike Day 28th Feb 2023
Dear parents/carers,
As you know, the National Education Union (NEU) has voted for further strike action for teaching staff next week on Tuesday 28th February 2023. Teaching staff who are members of this union at our school have a legal right to take part in the planned strike action, however, it is important to emphasise that the dispute and strike action is not specific to our school.
Some of the team have already indicated to me their decision to not strike so some groups of children will be in school, so the following children will be expected to attend:
1. Year 6 pupils
2. Children in receipt of benefits-led free school meals
Our priorities for other groups/classes are based on both government guidelines and the needs of learners who will have national assessments taking place soon so, if more staff indicate their intention to not strike this will be the priority order for attendance:
3. Year 2 pupils
4. Year 1 pupils
5. Whole school
For the groups/classes who are expected to attend, the normal attendance policy will be in place unless exceptional circumstances for absence can be proved. All cases will be treated on an individual basis.
I do understand the difficulties that this situation may place on you and your family, but we are doing all we can to maintain the expected levels of education. We really appreciate your support and partnership.
Yours Sincerely
Headteacher
