Times Table Rock Stars

At Carter’s Charity we actively promote the use of technology to support learning and children engagement in maths. Children have been really motivated to use these programmes to develop their fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills in maths at home.

Times Table Rock Stars is a programme which allows children to develop their confidence and fluency with the multiplication tables and related division facts. Children are targeted with multiplication tables suited to their ability and results on the game, they are encouraged to play different games to earn coins, which can be spent on developing their Rock Star Avatars.  As a school we encourage inter class and family battles to promote fluency and give the game a competitive edge. Children from years 1-6 have login detail for this and should be playing at home on a regular basis.

Maths Shed

Mental arithmetic and mathematical fact knowledge are key components in the process of achieving mastery in mathematics. MathShed makes the acquisition of these key skills fun and engaging for pupils and easy to plan for teachers.

Designed by a team of teachers, the MathShed scheme aligns with the National Curriculum.

The game aspect of MathShed ensures children are engaged and eager to practise their key maths skills regularly. The low-stakes games, quizzes and reward systems ensure that children find learning maths fun. 

As well as times tables and number bonds, there are various components across the platform with teaching resources and activities for all areas of the curriculum, from Measurement, Shape and Fractions, Decimals and Percentages to Roman Numerals! 

Spelling Shed

Spelling and word knowledge are key components in the process of learning to read and write. Spelling Shed makes the acquisition of these key skills fun and engaging for pupils. 

Designed by a team of teachers, the Spelling Shed scheme aligns with the English National Curriculum.

The game aspect of Spelling Shed ensures children are engaged and eager to practise their spellings regularly. The low-stakes games, quizzes and reward systems ensure that children find spelling fun. 

As well as spelling, there are various components across the platform with teaching resources and activities for phonics, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation.
